Dr. Saleh Fawaz Khasawneh, DBA, specializing  in Economics (major) and Business Statistics (minor), is an academic, businessman, and political figure at the local, regional and international levels.

Dr. Khasawneh received his doctorate (DBA) and Master (MBA) in Business Administration from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, USA. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Communication from Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt majoring in Economics and Political Science. 

His professional background is diverse and includes over thirty five years of research, management, development, consultation and teaching experience across the globe.

Dr. Khasawneh started his career after graduation in 1972 as Assistant Professor at the Jordan University (JU), Amman, Jordan. He Chaired and was member of several committees at both the College of Economics level and the University level. He also Chaired the Department of  Economics and later was Director General for the Department of Planning and Development at Jordan University (JU).

Late 1976, Dr. Khasawneh was promoted to Associate Professor at Jordan University. By that time, he was appointed Director General for the Income Tax Department (1976 – 1980). Dr. Khasawneh input to the Department development was. During that period, the Income Tax Department witnessed real qualitative changes, namely introducing for the first time newly advanced systems and the automation (computerization) of the Department functions and financial procedures and systems, and the introduction of a new more advanced Tax Law. 

In 1980/81, Dr. Khasawneh was appointed Economic Chancellor to the Prime Minister where he was entrusted with major and important files and also he was member of the Central Committee for Planning and Development in Jordan. His post at the Prime Minster Office gave him wide exposure to all economic aspects and matters related to Jordan economy and economic development and planning.

In 1985, Dr. Khasawneh was assigned Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Labor (M.O.L) and was then appointed Minister of Labor in 1997. Likewise, Dr. Khasawneh input was significant and brought qualitative changes in the work of the M.O.L, namely he introduced a new more advanced statistical system for collecting and tabulating labor statistics and later computerization of the system.

Besides his wide experience with the Government of Jordan, Dr. Khasawneh worked with regional and international firms and organizations. He worked directly  with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the World Bank as Project Director General and conducted work research and studies.

In general, his work for the Government diversified and enriched his experience and exposed him to many business firms and corporations, regional and international institutions, in many different ways. He was assigned as Chair or board member of many of these firms and institutions, including the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), International Labor Organization (ILO), Jordan Shipping Lines, Cement Co., Social Security Department (SSC), Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), Upper Ministerial Committee for Refugees Compensation Centre, Jordan Lime & Sillicit Brick Industry Co., and other Jordanian corporations. 

After more than thirty five years working with the government, locally and internationally, Dr. Khasawneh established and managed his own company "(Al Wameed)" in Amman, Jordan, a financial and investment company, and for two years he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.

His academic experience includes teaching graduate and undergraduate students at five universities in Jordan and the United States. Topics Dr. Khasawneh taught include microeconomics and macroeconomics, international business, international trade, public finance, and managerial economics.

Dr. Khasawneh has been recognized for his outstanding achievements and high level practical experience in teaching, business, government and international positions. In 1998, he was honored with the Jordan Kawkab Medal, Class A awarded by His Majesty the Late King Hussein bin Talal of Jordan.

Dr. Khasawneh is the author of numerous books and articles both in English and Arabic.
